Hematology

Hematology is the study of blood and blood disorders. Hematologists and hematopathology are highly trained healthcare providers who specialize in diseases of the blood and blood components. These include blood and bone marrow cells.

Serology

Serologic tests are blood tests that look for antibodies in your blood. They can involve a number of laboratory techniques. Different types of serologic tests are used to diagnose various disease conditions.

Serologic tests have one thing in common. They all focus on proteins made by your immune system. This vital body system helps keep you healthy by destroying foreign invaders that can make you ill. The process for having the test is the same regardless of which technique the laboratory uses during serologic testing.

    • Immunology

This test measures the amount of immunoglobulins, also known as antibodies, in your blood. Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight disease-causing substances, like viruses and bacteria. Your body makes different types of immunoglobulins to fight different types of these substances.

An immunoglobulins test usually measures three specific types of immunoglobulins. They are called igG, igM, and IgA. If your levels of igG, igM, or IgA are too low or too high, it may be a sign of a serious health problem.

Other names: quantitative immunoglobulins, total immunoglobulins, IgG, IgM, IgA testing

    Routine Hormone Assay

A hormone assays test is performed to give an indication of metabolic processes and conditions or 'hormone imbalance’. Many hormones can be measured (assayed) in the blood, including male and female sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone) and hormones secreted by other glands such as the parathyroid and adrenal glands. Hormonal Assay test is performed on a sample of blood to measure the level of Serum Cortisol, TSH, FT3, FT4, LH, FSH, Prolactin, Estradiol and Testosterone in blood. It is performed to confirm Hormonal Abnormalities and also during treatment and after treatment of Hormonal Abnormalities.
